Anti-Rabies Campaign in Central & Western Regions

The Public Health Department at the Western and Central Health Regions, Ministry of Health is conducting its anti-rabies vaccination campaign from February 24 to March 31st, 2010.

The anti-rabies campaign continues to target dogs and cats who are 3 months and older in the rural areas of the Belize District.

Vaccination location in Villages:   Schools/Community Center and also house to house visits is being  conducted from 8 am to 4 pm.

The following villages will be visited through March 31, 2010: Monday 15—Double Head Cabbage, Tuesday 16—Bermudian Landing, Wednesday 17—Lemonal/Isabella Bank, Thursday 18—Scotland Halfmoon/Flowers Bank, Friday 19& 22-23 Burrell Boom, Wednesday 23—Freetown Sibun/Rockville, Friday 25-26—Hattieville, Tuesday  30-31 Gracie Rock, La Democracia and Mahogany Heights.

In the Western Region total of 3,074 dogs and 416 cats have been vaccinated against Rabies in localities including the following: Yalbac, La Gracia, Santa Teresita, Tambos, San Marcos, Selena, Buena Vista, Billy White, San Antonio, Cool Shade, Mountain Pine Ridge, Barton Creek, Duck Run, Spanish Lookout, Santa Familia, Benque, Arenal, Succotz, Bullet Tree, Calla Creek and Santa Rosa.
