The Ministry of Health conducted its tenth Annual Mental Health Workshop from July 19th to 21st 2012 at The Banana Bank Lodge under the theme, “ Childhood Disorders: Understanding the impact of psychopathology on children and adolescents.

The workshop convened Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Partners of the Ministry and other Mental Health organizations and advocacy groups across the country. This year the focus was on Child Psychiatry; approaches to working with children and families.

Dr. Claudina Cayetano, Psychiatrist in the Ministry of Health was pleased that the sessions provided opportunities for continuing medical education, team building and self care.

Facilitators for the two and half day workshop were Dr. Matthew Hopperstad, Clinical Psychiatrist, specialist in Children and Adolescent, he is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Also Dr. Elma Augustine, Clinical Psychologist and Coordinator of the Mental Health Program.
